These are my standard terms of practice. These terms conform with the industry standard for psychodynamic psychotherapists, and are adapted from Abrahams & Rohleder’s (2021) “A Clinical Guide to Psychodynamic Psychotherapy” (Appendix I).
Fees and payment
Bills are issued monthly in arrears at the end of the calendar month. Payment is due within seven days by electronic banking transfer to the account detailed on your bill. All available sessions must be paid for, including those that you do not attend, as this time is reserved for you on a regular basis. If you are unable to attend, an alternative time in the same week may be offered, but this is not guaranteed. My fees are reviewed annually. However, this does not necessarily mean that your fee will change.
Breaks and holidays
Advance notice is given of my breaks and holidays. There are no sessions on bank holidays.
Privacy
I collect, store and process personal information about you to enable me to run my psychotherapy practice. Psychotherapists are required to comply with the directives set out by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). I collect personal data upon the legal basis of ‘Legitimate Interests’ and/or with your consent, according to the GDPR guidelines, as I need information about you in order to be able to work with you.
Confidentiality
All aspects of your therapy remain fully confidential, and my practice is subject to the strict code of practice and ethical standards of my registering professional body, the BACP. In line with best practice and requirements for continuing professional development, I regularly discuss my clinical work in supervision. However, all clinical material discussed is fully anonymised.
Communication with GP/other health professionals
If I am concerned about your safety or that of another person in connection with you, I may need to contact your GP and/or psychiatrist in order to help you receive the necessary support. I will endeavour to discuss this fully with you before I do so.
Notice of Ending
It is anticipated that the end of your therapy will be thought about and discussed between us during the course of the work, as this is an important part of the process. Should you decide to discontinue your therapy before a date for ending is agreed, two sessions’ notice is required so that we may have a proper period of ending.
Undertaking therapy with me is deemed to be acceptance of the terms and conditions set out in the above paragraphs.
